I've been procrastinating at replacing mine also. So far I've gotten by spraying some adhesive onto the disk to get by. So far 3 months so good... *BUT* i think it is remove the horizontal orange bar then the shaft with the pulley will have enough play that you can lift it up and slide the wheel...

I had a srm2301 where I tried the shc225 hedge trimmer head to fit the shaft. It is not easily interchangeable but it fit... The 2301 fit the current trimmer straight shafts(i think) so.....

If your mower has the triangle box with a trigger there is a nut where the cable enters the box that u can tighten the cable. Or else post what setup your mower has.

Can u post a pic or model number? Odds r it is 2 likely causes. The belt stretched so u need to pull a little further to make it grab or else maybe the belt is hard shiny that it is slipping.
