Engine will not RUN or Start

We need you to do a couple of things. First, check the oil condition and level again. If it smells like gas and is over the level mark, you have a problem with the float needle not seating which means time to have the carb cleaned and rebuilt. Second, if the oil level is good and doesn’t...

    SRM-225 Getting shocked

If you are really getting an electrical shock, it would have to be coming from the coil. If that is the case the unit would be running rough. Check the spark plug wire and kill switch wiring. First, check that screw, making sure it does not have a sharp point, causing a shocking sensation.

An engine with an air filter assembly will not work properly. First the air filter will freeze up, blocking the air horn. Second, there is no heat box surrounding the carb, which helps warm the cold alr for better vaporization of the fuel. Third, the jet sizes between a snowblower engine and...

Need help replacing fuel line in old 32RL string trimmer

On those units I find it easiest to remove the tank/shroud assembly then install the new fuel line. A trick I use to thread it into the tank is to have a long piece of fuel line, cut the end at a very sharp angle, push a generous length into the tank, grab with a hemostat or needle nose...

23HP Kohler oil leaks on 2000 Toro Z Master

I would advise you to go with your gut feeling and start with a good pressure wash and drying. Then I would raid the wife’s pantry for a cup of flour. Sprinkle flour all over the areas where you feel the leak may be originating from and run the engine. The flour will show you a track from...

Deck Belt Tension for Husqvarna YTH18542?

For most of the low end lawn tractors there is no measurement for belt deflection. The manufactureres figure that if you used the right belt routed properly, tensioner arm and pulley are in good condition and all springs are in place, you are good to good.

On those engines the breather is on the other side of the engine, no need to remove the carb/tank to get to it. As Star said, the next time it won’t restart, check for spark. Common problem on those older engines is a coil that develops a hot short or hot open, which would mean replacing the...
