How does this thing go on? Customer drops off one with no brake mechanism what so ever. In fact the left side, where the bolt was, was broken off. So they welded the top of it, for some reason. Anywho, I'm going back with nothing to go on. The parts diagrams are just diagrams that don't show...

    Lawn mower runs really poorly

When I rebuild carbs, I spray carb cleaner into the little holes on the face of the carb. On of them leads to the tiny holes at the other end of the carb. (Usually from the top) if it's clean in there, the carb spray will come out about as fast as you spray it in.

Ever seen "The Big Sleep," with Humphrey Bogart? The old man, Mr. Rutledge says "It's a shame when a man has to indulge his vices by proxy." The first cup that comes out of the pot (not just the first from a full pot) is the strongest best tasting. Couple that with a good strong cigarette, and...

    I'm about done with Partstree.

When using the card at the pump, I always give a little tug on the reader. They pop right off, from what I've heard. I've never found one. But still give a tug, none the less.

Having a CCW permit turns your 2nd Amendment right into an accepted government privilege. I have never accepted that privilege. I stand by my right. Getting a government permit to carry is like asking them for permission. Permission to do something you're supposed to have a right to in the first...

Someone who stole your card, didn't get verified at least 2 times before making a purchase? And the FedEx guy didn't verify who he was giving the new card too.??????? Good grief. So I'm about to move to another state, and my drivers license had just expired. I wasn't going to renew them if I...

    I'm about done with Partstree.

I guess I'm just old fashioned. I don't need to be verified. I know who I am. If someone steals my credit cards or information, then it's on me. Unless my computer is hacked. Then it's on the anti hacking software I'm paying for, which has lifelock. But still my responsibility to have things...

Warning, I'm ranting. This is my 4th time to use (or try to use) Partstree. The first order, when I lived in Texas was exactly like it was supposed to be. Parts in stock, they got sent out that day. Everything showed up quick. The next two time, I ordered, only to find out later, that the...

    Your most unorganized tool drawer

Being a one man show, I still return tools to the box after every repair. I get so tired of trying to find something I just had on the last job. With 3 work area's, in front of the shop, with a table. Inside work bench. And a smaller work bench with the magnifying glass with built in light for...

    Voltage drop

I have a manual load tester. But I'm not opposed to a new tool. Especially a digital one. LOL.. And here I was thinking that the carb pressure/Vac tester was the last tool I needed to do this job. I have a leak down tester on the way. Actually I was really looking forward to now buying...

    Voltage drop

JD D110 Briggs M# 33R877 0020 G1 Battery was weak when I picked it up, so I put it on slow charge. It took a charge, but load tested weak. I put on a good used battery that tested good. Alternator is charging good. After running the engine for about 20 to 30 minutes, and killing it, the...

    Any smokers here?

I tried chew, snuff, patches, gum, candy and just about everything to quit smoking. That was many years ago. And vaping a few years ago. But after I'd do one of those things, I still had the urge to lite up. So I realized that I'm not going to force myself to quit, until I really wanted to...

    Any smokers here?

I've been smoking since I was about 18. I've heard the risks my whole life. So I've got them down. But I swore I'd quit when smokes got to $5 per pack. When my brand got to there, I switched to a cheaper brand. But couldn't stand them. They stank and burned up like a fuse and they made me...

Thanks man. This is one of those situation where I knew I was right. But was hoping like the dickens I was just missing something simple. None the less, customer was gonna have to wait a few more days anywho, because the muffler I got from Stens didn't come with a gasket. So I'm ordering all...

Oldest? WOW, you got us all bear that micrometer. I know what you're talking about though. One of my old machine shop bosses had one on his wall. My oldest, I couldn't tell you. My ole man worked for International back in the 70's. I'm sure he bought both new and used. I was just wondering...

Customer says this air filter housing is original. But with this air filter in it, I can't see how it could draw air. Both ends of the AF block the housing holes, so it's gotta be the wrong air filter, right? The tin end, has to go towards the holes, which blocks the housing holes. My problem...

First failed test of the Hart 20 1/4" impact. The old HH60 I'm working on is about done. Trying to get the muffler bolts out, was pretty scary. When you say won't engage, I imagine you're saying the cable is working fine. But the belt won't get tight around the pulley. If the belt tightens enough to turn the trans pulley, and it's still not working, then you might remove it from the mower, and take it to a small engine shop that has...

I spent years in sales. Everything from Houses to Kirby vacuum cleaners. My sales rate is probably 90%. The John Deere I picked up from the scrap yard, with the intek pro, is one butt ugly mower. But it was only $20. The paint on it is about as bad as I've ever seen. But I have three people...

I follow some facebook page that offers help to those with small engines. And the help that offered, well it's many times "chuckle worthy." Other times it'll just piss you off. One guy posted a video of his Kawasaki twin smoking like a freight train. One of the "advisors" told him to use 20w-50.

MTD (Murray) 30" Rear Engine - Stubborn Blade Nut

When I can't get the nuts off, I'll take the pulley off and the blade and spindle will drop out the bottom. You may not have that option. But with the blade and spindle out, and have more options. Like taking it to a shop that has accessto heat, 1" impacts or other tools.
