    Engine is dieselling

Dieseling is usually caused by either carbon buildup that is very hot from a hot running engine or more likely overheated sparkplug tip from either the wrong heat range plug or very hot running engine. What does the plug look like?

    Engine is dieselling

Dieseling and running on (fuel solenoid off but ignition still on) look totally different. Dieseling from a carbon hot spot or over heated spark plug electrode results in engine operating erratically and usually making some off knocking sounds. With run on the engine just slows down and dies...

Removal of 1 inch steel pipe from an aluminum head

I have a STRUCK tractor on the shop right now with a OH140 on it and i have a 70's Sears suburban in the barn with a OH160 i want to restore. I have a HH120 on a Sears ST12 i blow snow with and a VH100 on an old Bunton walk behind. I really like the old cast iron tecumseh stuff.

    Amazon Stihl parts?????

Yup! If you have olders stihl stuff like chainsaws most OEM parts are NLA so aftermarket is the only option. Many a good saw has been kept off the scrap pile because aftermarket parts were available. OEM is great if it is available.

    Engine is dieselling

What is the engine model number? Can you post a pic of the spark plug and what is the numbers of the plug? When you sad dieseling is it running on when you turn the key off or just kicking backwards once when you turn the key off?

    D160 not cutting very well

I agree that you should run an engine at the recommended RPM but back in the day of stock class WKA go cart racing we took the governor gear out if 5HP briggs engines and ran them for a full season at 6000 RPM with stock everthing except the oul dipper as the stock one would break. The one thing...

    D160 not cutting very well

Does it have a mulching plug or is it side discharge? Contrary to what most homeowners think gator type blades are not mulching blades. If side discharge you might try some high lift blades.

what the reason cant mount snowblower on a 2015 XT2 lx50

A snow blower mounted on a lawn tractor should have thrust bars that mount somewhere on the frame near the rear axle. I have seen some of the newer stuff that mount the blower to the front of the frame and entire frame gets twisted when the blower gets used like a snowplow. The snowblower i see...

    Starting fluid question

Everybody has their way of doing things and if it works it's not wrong. At 65 with a bum shoulder, arthritis and trigger finger in my right hand pulling a starter rope is not my favorite thing so i do use starting fluid a lot for testing.

    Starting fluid question

I had a guy tell me that starting fluid would blow up an engine. I disconnected the fuel pump on a briggs OHV twin and gave him a can and told him to try and blow it up. He used the whole can and couldn't blow it up. Been a fun thread pursuing an urban legend. What's next? Does a mower run...

Carb cleaner works. Just looking for a first hand experience. When i was in high school i saw my neighbor literally blow the air cleaner off his 327 impala with starting fluid when it was below zero one morning. Then he got it started and it ran fine. Scub needs a 🥤to go with the 🍿

    Starting fluid question

In a petrol engine it can and that is a CAN cause preignition which as we all know can blow a hole in a piston in a single cycle It should not be a problem with side valve engines but can cause problems with higher compression OHV engines No offense but "it can" but i have never seen it and i...

    Starting fluid question

I have noticed that every time someone suggests using starting fluid as a troubleshooting tool people are quick to caution that they can "blow the head off" or "bend the connecting rod" or "bend the valves" or "blow it up". Over the last 50 years i have used starting fluid in literally many...

Gas leaking from carb top vent tube

    318 ignition/PTO problem

Without a schematic and knowing EXACTLY what he did to the wiring everything will just be a guess. From what you describe the pto worked fine till he worked on the wiring. We have no idea what he has done to the wiring. He "thinks" the module is bad. Kind of a red flag to me.

scag stt wants to go forward and backwards at the same time

One wheel motor for sure. Metal shavings in a hydraulic system is a recipie for real bad news unless every part of the system is flushed cleaned and checked. scag stt wants to go forward and backwards at the same time

If a 2 stroke is flooded the easiest way to clear it is to remove the spark plug and turn the unit so the top of the cylinder is facing down and pull the cord about a dizen times. Gravity will help clear fuel from the crankcase.

    Diesel leaking into oil pan

Diesel engines will have an injector pump and a lift pump that pushes fuel to the injector pump. The lift pump will be mechanical or electric. Usually fuel in the oil is a bad mechanical lift pump. Example https://www.amazon.com/Kubota-Fuel-Pump-Diesel-Engines/dp/B07RWFB42N

    TB 30 runs hot.

Sounds like carb is vapor locking from heat. When it does it spray some water on the carb to cool it and see if it will restart. If it is running hot most causes are, too lean, clogged cooling fins, not running at full throttle under load, retarded timing.

    Champion XC12YC - NGK Equivalent

    Champion XC12YC - NGK Equivalent

Not sure how true it is but "I read on the internet" that the xc plugs were designed to be a "greener" plug as they are designed to last something like 3 to 4 times longer before needing changed due to eroded electrodes.
