Need help with throttle linkage on Hechinger by MTD Tiller.

Looks like a typical old tiller with a 5hp briggs. Used hard and oil not changed often enough then the 2 little drainback holes in the breather clog up and it starts blowing oil out of the breather all over the engine. Put gas in it and just add oil when it gets low and don't ever clean it. ...

Need help with throttle linkage on Hechinger by MTD Tiller.

The govenor spring attaches to the govenor arm that attaches to the rod going up to the belcrank to the butterfly. The govenor gear inside the engine applies pressure to the govenor arm against the spring tension. When you start the engine at idle the govenor will overcome the spring tension and...

Oil coming out of breather tube

If the engine has the proper amount of oil and does not have a blown head gasket or excessive ring blowby then you probably have a problem with the crankcase breather. All small 4 stroke engines have a crankcase filled with oil mist (not vapor) and positive pressure when the engine is up to temp...

Have you checked the ignition system? Kohler uses a few different systems. I had one doing something very similar to what you have and it was a bad ignition module.

Maybe the OP can jack up the rear end and video the rear tires rotating with the phone not being hand held but setting on something so we get a steady reference. I would like to see the egg shaped tires slowly rotating.

    LT2700 Silver Eagle battery

I hate to say it but i have had very good luck installing the Strongbox brand of batteries from John Deere. If the wallyworld and tractor supply batteries last 5 years i tell folks you got your money's worth. I regularly see the JD batteries last 7-9 years. They cost more but they do seem...

    Bad Radius X Tires

I does seem odd that 3 different sets of tires are out of round. Especially Carlisle. The only tire i ever had that was egg shaped had damaged cord from over inflation. Mower turf tires are relatively thin so once inflated they should be round. Like Bert i would be interested in measuring runout...

    Simplicity reliability?

I have serviced a few of the older broadmoor mowers. Seem a little higher quality than the box store mowers. I hate the deck with the rollers that ride on the ground. Waited a month for a sector gear and pinion shaft for one. Simplicity branded and bagged parts came in Briggs and stratton boxes...

    Poulan Pro PP5020 won't start

Had a guy bring me a stihl 251c that he tried to fell timber with like Paul Bunyan. Dulled the chain and just kept on cutting. Scored piston, burned up clutch, burned up clutch drum, seized clutch bearing, melted worm gear and melted plastic case around the clutch. $250 doorstop now.

    Poulan Pro PP5020 won't start

If your fuel mixture ratio was correct then either the saw ran lean for some reason or overheated or a combination of both. An air leak can cause it to run lean or a dull chain being forced into logs can overheat it. PNC piston and cylinder.

Things that can go wrong with the crank assy. The crankpin bearing goes bad from lack of oil and overheating. F. The ONLY test of battery condition is a "battery load test". That is debateable. The new testers that measure internal resistance are as accurate as a load tester. Best 2 cycle oil, and why

Look at the bottle. If it says FD rated mix it according to equipment instructions. The world will be fine. OPE can't read bottle labels to see what brand it is. If you have a favorite oil use it.

    Do these look normal?

Most folks misdiagnose engine issues looking at spark plugs. Spark plugs need to operate in the self cleaning temperature range which is about 950F to 1450F. Below that spark plugs will carbon foul. Every time the engine is started and until the plug reaches the self cleaning temperature it will...

    Bad Radius X Tires

It is not common for tires to be out or round. I have used quire a few Kenda tires and never had any out of round. Best 2 cycle oil, and why

My Rototiller says to mix 8 oz of Aeroshell 80 SAE40 oil to 1 gallon of gas. My 90hp outboard is a 1979 and takes premix at 50:1. It leaves a pretty good oil slick when idling.
