Craftsman 54" mower grass buildup in deck

Yikes! Maybe a bit too obvious, but do you prop up the plastic deflector on the discharge side when you mow? I use a bungee and drilled a hole in the deflector and I can hold it up at a 45 degree angle which throws the cuttings way off and helps keep the deck from building up a bunch of...

    1998 lt1000 bagger

You may and likely will find a used or better yet inoperative similar model that has a bagger for short money. You didn't say where you live, but I see them on FB marketplace all the time. for the cost of new bagger system $250+ you can likely find a used mower with everything (including...

    No oil change?

I take all my used engine oil and hydraulic oils to a friend who owns a car repair shop and has a used oil burner/heater. Works great and he loves the hydraulic oil because it is great burning. Those of you that live in cold weather regions should check with your local shops to see if they...

Lifetime Deck warranty is not hhhhonored

The good news is that that is a straight forward and easy 1 hour repair by a competent welder. It looks more to me like most likely there was some deck failure around the rear wheel and then contact with a solid object peeled it open like a can opener. I can see why Husqy would decline...

Low-gade Metal in Blades -- all blades, any brand?

Boy I've had nothing but good luck with and am very impressed with the Oregon G5 blades. They are MUCH heavier, bigger, thicker, and hold up well.

    Engine bad, need to repower

Man Jastech, you're a glutton for punishment. Why is the bagger on that mower with 4' high grass? Are you mowing just a pathway, or are you trying to knock down the whole area? You can push a (running and working) mower while holding it up angled at the front by pushing down on the handle...

    Won,t Start

Clean and check the ground to chassis connection from the battery, and clean the connections on the battery cables by removing, wire brushing in/out and then put back on. If replacing the starter solenoid didn't end the click on trying to start, it's likely connections.

    There's your problem

I have to say you win the grand prize for the nastiest carb and bowl I've seen! Wowzers. You can thank ethanol laced fuel for that or was this engine being used as a mooring for a boat in salt water? Fortunately, with the problems in new fuel formulations, replacement carburetors are...

    Blade Wear Seems Odd ???

They look fine to me. As pointed out, the blades are mulching blades only the outer tip makes first cut/contact with grass and the rest is designed to chip into finer bits. With that said, I moved to using Oregon Longer Life 596-900 Gator Fusion G5 3-In-1 Mulching Blades on my Craftsman...

Mower for 6 to 7 acres

I have 14 acres and mow about 9 acres of it I have LandPride FDR1672 finish mower behind a Kubota L3600 Tractor. I have trees but nothing close to 100 in the mower no area, but still plenty to dodge. Your note says that all the trees have mulch beds around. While mowing is your focus you...

How To Drain Fuel B&S P2200 Portable Generator

I worry about tipping any 4 stroke engine upside down as the oil in the sump will flood the top end and may cause other issues. I think a better approach is to siphon out as much fuel as possible and then start up the generator to clear the remaining dregs of fuel that siphoning didn't remove...

    craftsman 917.288563 24 hrse briggs. won't move.

BeBuzz: Did this tractor operate normally and then suddenly this was the condition, or is this a new tractor to you? There is a purge procedure for these hydrostatic transmissions when they get air locked in a funk. Have you done that yet?

Craftsman riding mower stops cutting still running

For anyone without a set of ramps, floor jack, or other means of getting the tractor front up to work on the deck, if you have a basement and also a bulkhead, I've used the bulkhead doors as a ramp.
