Trying to remove the Drive wheel using puller and mallet, it did come off but axle came off too. Axle is back on and secure but need to refill fluid. Question is how much and what type?

81 ounces of 20W50 motor oil. spin the input shaft with a drill while performing the air purge procedure before reinstalling the unit. Oil level should be around 1.5-2 inches from the top after purging.

Thanks for the information, The fluid that came out was gray in color and flowed very slow. I', guessing that only 2/3 of a qt. leaked. I'm wondering if you know how can I remove the rest and fill all with new. Again, Thank you for the information!

Best you can do is remove the unit from the mower and turn it upside down with the vent/fill plug removed and drain as much as possible. Fill within 2 inches of the top and then air purge it and then check the oil level through the fill hole. Adjust level as needed.

Personally with the oil coming out grey mud I would split the case and clean or change the internal filter as it sounds like water has gotten into the unit.

I roger that, Bought it 5 years ago been changing belts, pulleys and engine oil regularly. My guess is Tranny fluid is 25 years old... Runs great, I'm kicking my ass thinking I should have just got a tube for the tire instead of trying to change it. A lot less $$$ and a boat load more time and aggravation. Oh well. Thanks bud.

Well, it's 4 months later and the Mower is running just perfect however yesterday I had an issue where my left rear axle slipped out. I jacked it up and hit it back in only to have it come back out about 15 minutes later. Is there a pin or C clip missing? Any advice is muchly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your time. Brian

It lost the retaining ring but a replacement is not listed in the parts list. But even the complete differential set is NLA.

Hydro 310-0650 Series. Items 49 is the axle shaft retaining rings.

How did you get the axle back in the first time without splitting the case? If you did it like it should have been done you could have change the fluid then.

Okay went thru the service bulletins and found that the 44871 is the correct PN. At the time I posted I didn't have time to go thru all the bulletins. Sorry for not completing with the SB research.

Boy I wish companies keep the online IPLs up to date.

Look like I need to sign up for an account Medart as neither RBI or Gardner has them in stock.

Might be a good move I find they have things Gardner does not have a lot of the time. We use both but seem to like Medart the best.

All I know right now is Gardner is a royal pain in the backside to deal with this year. I can't even order parts online. I have to call the orders and it seems everything get on at least a month back order if not longer. And the outside salesman chewed me out for using the inside salesperson. Monday I canceled all the back orders that were over two months old. And closest estimate ship date was 10/1. I did the same thing with RBI. At least most of the items were for restocking the shelves. I can wait until next year to order them. I done lost over 10K in sales because Gardner this year.

If you read Gardner's new cookie policy you giving Microsoft full access to all your devices and I am not going to do that as I don't know what my customers phones have on them when they access the WiFi system. No way to opt out given.
